Income tax is only one of three yearly payments a Czech self-employed person (OSVČ — a sole trader or freelancer) has to deal with. Social and health insurance contributions are often the bigger absolute amount of the two — and you handle them with two separate authorities, each with its own annual statement and its own deadlines. Taxorio already calculated income tax; now it tracks insurance contributions the same way. A new section in the app shows the indicative impact of your business for a given year on both social and health insurance — and flags the deadlines before you miss them.
What's new
The menu section that used to be called just Taxes has been renamed to Taxes & Contributions, and it now has a new Insurance tab. In it you'll find two cards — Social Insurance (ČSSZ) and Health Insurance (with a badge for your health insurance company) — with an annual statement built directly from the documents you already have recorded in Taxorio.
ČSSZ (Česká správa sociálního zabezpečení, the Czech Social Security Administration) administers social insurance for the self-employed; health insurance is instead paid to whichever health insurance company (zdravotní pojišťovna) you're registered with — Czechia has several competing public health insurers, unlike most countries with a single national scheme. The logic on both cards is the same: starting from your profit under § 7 of the Income Tax Act (the section governing self-employment income), Taxorio derives the assessment base (55% of profit for social insurance, 50% for health insurance) and from it an indicative annual premium. Once you fill in how much you actually paid in advances for the year, the card immediately calculates a shortfall or a refund. The tab is part of the standard tax regime (flat-tax filers already have both social and health insurance bundled into one flat monthly payment) and is available on the FREE plan as well.
The monthly advance is something you enter yourself
The amount of your monthly advance for the current year is determined solely by your last filed annual statement — so you enter it yourself into the "Monthly advance this year" field; Taxorio never invents or overrides it with its own guess. The one exception is your first year in business: since no statement exists yet to base anything on, the app automatically offers the current legal minimum instead.
Where to set it up in Taxorio
Before the Insurance tab shows meaningful numbers, you need to fill in a few details about your business:
- Go to Settings → Company Details → Insurance.
- Choose your activity type — main, or side.
- For a side activity, also choose the reason (employment that already covers insurance, the state paying your contributions, and similar cases).
- Select your health insurance company and enter your business start date.
- Save, then open Taxes & Contributions → Insurance — the cards recalculate from your documents for the selected year.
- Fill in your advances already paid and this year's monthly advance — the card immediately shows the shortfall, the refund, and the new advance implied by your statement.
2026 parameters
For a credible calculation, Taxorio uses the current legal parameters:
- Minimum monthly advance for social insurance: 5,005 CZK (following Act No. 90/2026 Sb., which reverted the minimum assessment-base calculation back to 35% of the average wage).
- Minimum monthly advance for health insurance: 3,306 CZK.
- Rates: 29.2% for social insurance, 13.5% for health insurance, both applied to the assessment base.
- Annual statements (přehled) are due within a month of the income tax return deadline — for the 2025 tax year, filed electronically, that's by 4 June 2026.
- Any shortfall is due within 8 days of filing the statement.
- The regular monthly social insurance advance is due by the end of the current month; the health insurance advance by the 8th day of the following month.
What Taxorio leaves to you
To be direct about it: the numbers in the Insurance tab are an indicative measure of the impact your business has on social and health insurance contributions — not a calculator tailored to every individual case, and not a substitute for a tax or insurance adviser. The app doesn't model voluntary sick-pay insurance (dobrovolné nemocenské pojištění), concurrent employment beyond the activity type you set up, or other individual exemptions and reliefs — for those, you need to contact ČSSZ or your health insurance company directly. Taxorio also doesn't generate an electronic filing of the annual statement — it only prepares the underlying figures for you to copy into the ČSSZ ePortal or your health insurer's portal. What's binding is always the statement you actually file, not the estimate in the app.
Summary
Social and health insurance used to live entirely outside Taxorio — in your head, in a spreadsheet, or in an envelope with a paper statement left until the last moment. The new Insurance tab under Taxes & Contributions gives you at least an indicative view of where you stand during the year, whether that's the annual statement or the monthly advance you're already paying now. Try it in the app — fill in a few details in Settings, and you'll see the rest right away in the Insurance tab.
